Artist Statement

My work seeks to highlight and celebrate mundane moments of intimacy and affection. Through a variety of mediums, with a preference for oil paint, I explore themes of queerness, desire, and relationships with ourselves, our bodies, and those closest to us. Often using a warm palette, my work is highly emotive and expressive in its use of color and composition. My compositions are snapshots of time spent with people in relationship, collaged together to place representational art in surreal environments. I focus on the figure often using personal reference images of myself and my loved ones, placing emphasis on themes of connection and affection.

The complexity of queerness has served as my biggest inspiration. My experience as a gender non-conforming person has deeply impacted my life and relationships. There is so much beauty in the connection and community queerness has brought to my life, and it continues to influence my need to embrace the little moments of love.
